BIOGRAPHY

Andrea Fraschina was born in 1971 in Lugano. He started painting at a young age, he graduated in Political Sciences at University of Lausanne and has held several positions within international companies. Today he lives and works in Switzerland. Andrea is a self-taught artist. His works belong to the art movement of abstract expressionism and his references are those of the school of American artists of the 50s and 70s, from Rauschenberg to Pollock and, a few decades later, Basquiat. Artists who associate their art with a form of revolution. An internal revolution, a remedy to soothe the tensions in this increasingly fast life, a way of reconciling with the world.

Andrea’s artwork takes its energy from the « do it yourself » punk philosophy of the 70’s, a mix of styles and the hip-hop of the 80’s, underground cultures and creative impulses that comes directly from the street and urban environment. Andrea uses materials recovered from warehouses and recycles them. He creates surfaces for his paintings with paper, cardboard, upon which he applies sprays and other acrylic paints, which he scratches and transforms. On his abstract canvases it is a raw improvised energy, whilst at the same time being channeled towards his vision.

Andrea Fraschina (ARTBYFRASK) is represented by NdF Agency / NdF Gallery (Switzerland) and Native Digital.
